Meet the Balloon Artists of Balloon Zoom!
When sisters Anna, Leila and Noor launched Balloon Zoom in the Fall of 2011, they wanted to create a company that was not only fun, but could also give back to their community. Balloon Zoom has donated its balloon art to Janney Elementary, Alice Deal Middle and Woodrow Wilson High schools, and locally-based Prana for Preemies, and purchased coats for Washington, D.C. children in need, and groceries for refugee families trying to build new lives in our area. Internationally, they have donated to Heifer International.
In 2018, the girls' mom, Fataima Ahmad, began designing and creating many of the company's more elaborate balloon installations, such as the organic balloon wall pictured below and featured here. She is a Certified Balloon Artist, which is a globally recognized certification awarded to balloon decorators who have demonstrated mastery of the principles and elements of design in balloon art.
Balloon Zoom is a proud member of the Pro Environment Balloon Alliance, an international organization that supports safe and environmentally responsible balloon practices, and the Qualatex Balloon Network, a professional organization for balloon artists.
Leila, 16, loves running Balloon Zoom because it has given her the chance to make a difference in others' lives. She chose the company's first charitable project in 2012: donating goats, chickens, ducks and goslings to family's in need through Heifer International.
In her spare time, Leila works for Tenleytown MainStreet, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the small business community in her neighborhood.
Noor, 14, loves running Balloon Zoom because she likes being her own boss.
In her spare time, Noor designed a plush bee for her second venture, a socially responsible toy company she named Imagine Plush LLC. Every bee sold supports the bee and pollinator research, education and conservation efforts of her official partner, the Pollinator Partnership. Her bee is available at Barstons Child's Play, Sullivan's Toys, Anglo Dutch Pools & Toys, American Plant (Bethesda), Suburban Hospital, and Sibley Hospital in the Washington, D.C. area; Franklins in Hyattsville, MD, and The Bee Store in Woodbridge, VA; The Savannah Bee Company in Savannah, GA; and through Mann Lake, one of the largest beekeeping supply companies in the country. To learn more, visit Imagine Plush, or follow Noor on Instagram or Facebook.
Anna, 18, a Balloon Zoom founder, is now a biology major at The Ohio State University. In her spare time, she is a varsity coxswain for the women's crew team.
